Kevin,

Thanks for this. Is the option still there to send in extra theses
ourselves if we can though? Or is the only option to carry funds over to
09/10?

Many thanks,

Colin

Hi Colin,

There are no implications to rush thesis requests for 08/09. None of the
purchase orders sent through have been processed yet (except those that
we were specifically asked to process) for this reason. The funds loaded
onto the system will carry over from one year to the next.

Institutions that have signed-up will be invoiced when the service goes
live and any funds that are left at the end of the period will be
carried over.

I hope that answers your query, but please come back to me if you need
any further information.

Regards,

Kevin

Should institutions that have signed up to the Open Access Sponsor
(pre-pay) option be concerned that we have a diminishing amount of time
in 2008/09 in which to accumulate thesis requests to the tune of what
we've paid for? I realise we can 'top-up' towards the end of the year by
choosing theses ourselves to send in for digitisation, but with the
delay to the start of the service this is probably going to be rather a
lot more than it otherwise would have been and might end up being quite
a demand on library time and resources. How much notice will we get to
meet our shortfall, and will there be a deadline to send in our 'top-up'
theses by?
