The judgment in the landmark case (S & Marper v UK) is being handed down at
11.00, Thursday December 4th will also be available on the court's website
on the same day ( <http://www.echr.coe.int> http://www.echr.coe.int). As I
assisted Marper's team in a very minor way in preparing a data protection
analysis of the DNA database - I have made this available on the Amberhawk
website (www.amberhawk.com). The second part of this article contains the
data protection analysis.

Also on the web-site is an academic paper just published explaining why the
Data Protection Act and Human Rights Act cannot be relied upon to protect
privacy in the UK. The paper sets out Nine Principles for assessing whether
privacy is protected in a surveillance society.
