I have been sent an article by Charterhouse Archives, ‘Caesar – a cricketer broken by tragedies’ by Geoffrey Amey.

 

It is about ‘Julius Casar, the Godalming-born professional cricketer, died 100 years ago’….born on March 25, 1830, into a family of cricketers’.

 

I am bewildered: was he a White man? With a name like that? Or a mixed-race man (cant tell from portrait) born into a family of White cricketers?

 

Does anyone know anything about this man?
