Dear Jerome, If you download the latest (current) version of EEGLAB, it contains a version of the fileio toolbox and a possibility to load files using fileio. One of the formats supported is SPM8 (and also SPM5). Perhaps it'd be a good idea to replace the fileio version there with the latest version that you can download from ftp://ftp.fcdonders.nl/pub/fieldtrip/modules/. Also I've experienced some error messages in EEGLAB with data loaded this way but this is something you should complain about to EEGLAB developers.
