Dear Brian

Of no help to your question, save for a passing reference to " '81
champagne', but worth a look for the fun of it anyway is the poem "La
Nuit Blanche"

Beat wishes

Subject: RK's drinking habits

Neil Pendock, the drinks columnist at The Times in Johannesburg, referred in
passing, in a recent column, to "that old whisky tippler Rudyard Kipling."
The full item is at
http://blogs.thetimes.co.za/pendock/2008/10/31/whisky-wednesday/ and the
reference to RK is at the end.

I've sent him a note to ask how he knows what Kipling drank. Do we indeed
know? I can't think offhand of any reference to his own taste in beer, wine,
or spirits. Can anyone?
