Grants Adviser - Medicine, Society and History

The Wellcome Trust is the largest charity in the UK. It funds innovative 
biomedical research, in the UK and internationally, with the aim of improving 
human and animal health. 

We currently have a vacancy for a Grants Adviser in our Medicine, Society 
and History group within the Grants Management department. You will have 
responsibility for grants and awards in the area of Public Engagement, which 
supports the Trust’s objective of engaging the public with biomedical science 
and the issues it raises.

The role will involve handling a portfolio of Public Engagement grant 
applications and awards and managing the processes associated with the 
Trust’s grant-giving activities, including inputting information to the relevant 
databases and preparing papers for the Funding Committees. In addition, you 
will liaise with the external community and develop positive relationships with 
applicants, grantholders and reviewers, as well as colleagues within the Trust. 
You will therefore need to possess:

a relevant degree and experience of working in the Public Engagement arena 
proven administrative experience plus a strong desire to develop and apply 
business process skills to Public Engagement-related work 
an ability to work to deadlines while ensuring excellent attention to detail 
excellent written and verbal communication skills 
excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and 
as part of a small group 
flexibility, as you may be asked to cover for colleagues in the group.
This job is currently being offered on a contract of up to one year and the 
salary will be on a scale from £28 000 p.a. plus benefits.
