Luftbrückendank Visiting Fellowship
Centre for British Studies

This annual fellowship programme allows researchers from the UK to
live and work in Berlin for two months. Eligible researchers will have
completed a PhD in a subject such as history, political science,
economy, law, literature or cultural studies and engage in innovative
research on a topic within the area of post-war Anglo-German
relations.

The fellowship will include a workplace at the Centre for British
Studies, full access to the academic resources of Humboldt University,
travel costs and a monthly stipend of EUR 1,000. The fellow should
take part in the academic life of the Centre for British Studies and
present his/her research in a public lecture at the Centre. The start
of the fellowship can be arranged flexibly within the academic year.

The foundation Luftbrückendank was founded in 1959 by the then
governing mayor Willy Brandt in order to remember the British and
American efforts made between 24 June 1948 and 11 May 1949 to keep the
city supplied with food, medicine, heating materials etc. The
foundation looks after the financial support of veterans and their
families and promotes British-German co-operation by financing
lectures and lecturers at the Berlin universities.

The Centre for British Studies is an interdisciplinary research
institute at the Humboldt University Berlin. In addition to its
academic research activities, which cover British culture, economics,
law and society, it provides the media with information about Great
Britain and organizes public events for people interested in British
culture. The Centre offers a postgraduate degree course, 'Master in
British Studies' (M.B.S.), which has been reaccredited in 2008 with
excellent results.

Please send your application with a C.V. to Prof. Dr. Christiane
Eisenberg, Centre for British Studies, Mohrenstr. 60, 10117 Berlin,
Germany.

Applications for 2009 are to be received by 31 December 2008.
