The HEA-ICS  (Higher Education Academy Subject Centre or Information and Computer Sciences) and CILASS (Centre for Inquiry-based Learning in the Arts and Social Sciences have organised a workshop on "Exploring Inquiry Based Learning" to be held at CILASS, the University of Sheffield, on Friday 24 April 2009.

The morning will consist of several case studies (drawn from Information Science and Computer Science). Over lunch there will be an opportunity for demonstrations of technology to support IBL and / or visit the University's Information Commons. In the afternoon, Professor Phil Levy and colleagues from CILASS will lead an interactive workshop on designing for IBL. The day will conclude with a plenary session building on the workshop and the earlier case studies.

The event is open to academic staff and academic librarians - the afternoon workshop will be relevant to both groups. It will be relevant to HE staff who are already involved in IBL as well as those who wish to develop IBL in their own institutions. There is no charge for this event, but please note that places are limited to 35.  Register online at http://www.ics.heacademy.ac.uk/events/displayevent.php?id=210
