ANNOUNCING THE 2009 TAYLOR & FRANCIS SOCIOLOGY OF
RELIGION POSTGRADUATE ESSAY COMPETITION
The British Sociological Association Sociology of Religion Study Group is now inviting
entries for the 2009 Taylor & Francis Sociology of Religion Postgraduate
Essay competition.
We welcome essays from postgraduates at all stages of their studies on any
aspect of contemporary religion grounded in a sociological
perspective. The prize for the winning essay is £100 and, subject to
undergoing the usual refereeing process, it is hoped that the winning essay
will be published in the Journal of
Contemporary Religion.
Essays should be between 5000 and 7000 words, and should be submitted electronically
as a single MS Word document to Kristin Aune ([log in to unmask]), including
bibliography and cover sheet (which can be downloaded from the Study Group
website). The deadline for submission is the 27th February 2009, and
entries can be submitted at any time between now and then.
The winner of the competition will be announced at the Study Group's Annual
Conference Dinner in

departmental notice board and encourage your postgraduate students to submit
essays. If you are a postgraduate this is great opportunity to work towards an
early publication on your thesis topic, or a chance to explore another area of
interest.
