Title:  Marie Curie Research Fellowship (2)  
Status: 2 X 2 year contracts

Salary: The award will be in the range of €44,815.30-€49,515.20 This will be paid in three portions - monthly living allowance (salary); mobility allowance; and travel allowance. 

The National Institute for Intellectual Disability (NIID), based at Trinity College , in the heart of Dublin , is focused upon research, education and advocacy with people with intellectual disability. As part of its mission the NIID provides a supportive and well equipped research environment where Trinity staff work in collaboration with people with intellectual disability, families, agency staff and community members. The NIID fellowships provide an exciting career opportunity to engage in research where people with intellectual disability and family members are included in all aspects of the process.

Two Marie Curie Research Fellowships are advertised as part of an EU funded Transfer of Knowledge (TOK) Project entitled: Doing Disability Research . 

The successful fellows will support and develop NIID's research activities as part of this project. They will be involved as members of a research team in the ongoing design, implementation, analysis and writing of research reports, delivery of conference, presentations and submission of journal articles arising from one or more of the project's research focus areas including:

•  A National Survey of people with intellectual disabilities; 
•  A National Survey of family members 
•  A project to gather and archive the life-stories of people with intellectual disabilities; and 
•  An evaluation of the resource tools designed for people with intellectual disabilities to learn about research methods and practices.

Candidates should be experienced in one or more of the following areas: 
•  Qualitative research design, conduct and analysis relevant to life history research, participatory/inclusive action research and survey research. 
•  Quantitative data entry and use of statistical packages, such as, SPSS 
•  Alternative forms of research and dissemination

The successful candidates will be expected to carry out collaborative research while also training and supporting researchers both within Trinity and in the field. They will be expected to manage the daily routine of projects and to co-operate with other researchers, including people with intellectual disability, family members as well as graduate students. Responsibilities will be formulated to take account of individual strengths and career needs.

The NIID is one of four research Centres that are affiliated to the School of Social Work and Social Policy. The Social Policy and Ageing Research Centre, the Children's Research Centre and the Addiction Research Centre are situated close to the NIID and staff members across the four centres are supportive of one another's research ventures.

Applicants should provide a CV and an outline of their research interests and a copy of a current publication or its electronic link. The two positions are for candidates with between 4-10 years (post primary degree) relevant research experience in academia and/or working with people with intellectual disabilities (preferably both). The posts are tenable for two years.

The positions are open to citizens of the EU, and associated states, not normally resident in Ireland . Eligibility Criteria
Rule 1:
Researchers must be nationals of a State other than that of the host organisation 1. At the start of their fellowship/activity, researchers may not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country of their host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference deadline for eligibility 2 to the start date. Short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.”

Rule 2:
Researchers from Member States or Associated States can, according to the nature of the action, carry out their transnational mobility in all other Member States and all other associated States. These researchers will be considered as being eligible to benefit from a training or mobility action, including in their country of origin, if they can provide evidence that they have legally resided and have had their principal activity (work, studies, etc) in a third country for at least four of the last five years immediately prior to the reference deadline for eligibility.

Rule 3:
Participation and funding of researchers from third countries is foreseen in all of the host-driven mobility schemes [such as ToK] ….they cannot carry out their transnational mobility in third countries. In the case of host-driven actions [such as ToK], a maximum of 30 % of the number of funded researcher-months can be used for third country researchers.
