I have been hit by this limit a few times and the upshot of it
is that it is my fault.
We all need to manage our message replies better and this can
include removing the over lengthy “disclaimers” that mount up at the foot of
messages. Also “snipping” earlier and now less relevant parts of the thread
brings down the number of lines significantly and adding the phrase “<snip>”
indicates to all that this has been done (used a lot on other forums and works
very well).
I think increasing the limit will be counterproductive in that messages
will just get infeasibly large and cumbersome. 1000 lines is more than
reasonable if we all take some responsibility to snip extraneous lines.
