Dear All,
It was great to meet some of you at the Crisis Forum. A very moving and
thought provoking day and an excellent set of speakers. This is just a quick
email to remind people/ let people now about Corporate Watch's new report
on climate change 'technofixes'. If anyone has any suggestions for
promoting the report they would be very welcome.
Best wishes,
Claire Fauset

Corporate Watch has just launched our new cutting edge report,
Technofixes: A Critical Guide to Climate Change Technologies.

It investigates the large scale technologies that corporations and
governments are putting on the table, including hydrogen, agrofuels,
carbon capture, biomass, electricity from nuclear, solar, wind and water,
as well as a range of ideas to reflect the sunīs energy or remove carbon
dioxide from the atmosphere.

Drawing on rigorous science and a clear understanding of political
realities, it sifts through the technologies on the table. It finds what
works, what doesnīt, the present state of these industries and where
theyīre heading.

Because technologies are being chosen for their profitability rather than
effectiveness, some proposed solutions would actually lead to an increase
in emissions. Many would bring about great social injustice. Beyond that,
the promise of a future technofix is being used as a stalling tactic by
those who want to keep on burning fossil fuels.
