Write Queer London at The British Museum
11am - 3pm Wednesday 26th November 2009

11 - 12 Curator Richard Parkinson will talk about the problems of
identifying gay desire in Ancient Egyptian history, with evidence
ranging from the first recorded gay 'chat up line' on a papyrus to
monuments in the Museum's collection. He will also discuss the
international controversy over the 'first gay kiss' detected in a
courtiers' tomb from 2500 BC and how such funerary monuments were
integrated in Marguerite Yourcenar's queer modern classic 'Memoirs of
Hadrian'."
