Experiencing work experience?

Then we need you!  MLA & LLUK are currently running a project to provide practical helpful guidance materials for organisations running work experience for Years 10 & 11 school children.

The Untold Riches project involving MLA, Creative & Cultural Skills, Lifelong Learning UK, the Institute of Conservation, the Society of Archivists and other professional bodies, has been set up in order to develop pre-16 work placements and careers advice to encourage young people, particularly from BME backgrounds, to consider a career in museums, libraries and archives.

Work to date has concentrated on the production of a set of draft work placement guidance materials that have now been drawn up and work placements have started to take place across the country.

In order to get a wide base for the trials we are looking for further museums, libraries and archives who will be hosting work experience placements for students in yrs 10 or 11 over the Autumn and who would be willing to trial the materials that have been produced. We would also welcome any organisations who have recently had placements who would be interested in reviewing the materials.

If you would be willing to participate in the trial then please contact Melanie Hall ([log in to unmask]) or Fiona Tarpey ([log in to unmask]) for further information or to register your interest.
