Subject: Planners' Group

Dear all,

Those of you who attended the AUA Planning Forum at the beginning of the month will be aware that there was some discussion about the possibilities of undertaking more professional development events under the auspices of AUA (either specifically planning-focussed or with a planning input into a broader event).  The general view from the Forum was that this would be welcomed and I wanted to canvas further within the community to see whether this was a generally held view.

Additionally, it has become clear recently that the lack of a national recognised ‘Planners Group’ means that there are occasions (e.g. when HESA is reviewing its returns) when Planning does not have a voice around the table.  Clearly this is not only an issue in respect of the student returns but also in terms of having someone involved who understands the interplay between the different returns and the potential impacts on league tables etc.  The view at Planning Forum was that it would be useful to develop such a group.

I would be grateful for any comments people have, either to me directly or back to the list.

Best wishes, Vikki
