Hi Robbie

Yes. I have the full set of George's DVDs. I can burn copies for you if you don't hear from Rod. I'm not sure what the copyright position is. Rod sent me a free set because I was planning to use them at the EFTC conference in Ljubljana. It may be that normally you have to pay for them.

I have UK and US order forms for Axel's book. I'll send them to you off-list.

Keep safe. Your friend,

 Hi rowdy

Interested in a copy of Alexl Klein book , could you let me know the publishers.

Talked to George at the ATCA conference about his training DVDs , still no luck with Aminty, but he suggested that you might be able to acquire a copy.

All the best

Robbie

Subject: [EFTC] New Book from Axel Klein

Hi.  I have been asked by Axel Klein to circulate details of his new book:

“Drugs and the World”
An anthropological approach to the study of psychoactive drugs
London: Reaktion

Conventionally, studies in the drugs field focus on some form of medical or social pathology, from addiction to organised crime. Yet drugs also play a constructive role, from their centrality in religious rituals to their part in the growth of trade among nation-states. The book then moves on to investigate the modern policies that define certain substances as drugs; the link between drugs, addiction, and crime; and the prevailing control regime around the world that has largely failed to control global drug trafficking. Drawing on studies from the Caribbean, West Africa and Eastern Europe the book proposes solutions that could reinforce the eroded power of state institutions, law enforcement, and the democratic process in addressing drug trafficking.

Axel Klein is a social anthropologist by training, who has conducted fieldwork on drug related issues in different parts of the world. He is now working at the Centre for Health Service Studies at the University of Kent.
