That seems to have done the trick once I found the correct lib directory
(you're in a maze of twisty libs, all different...)

Will probably wait for FC10 before giving that a bash (assuming the
initial reviews aren't "run for the hills"...)

Sorry should have made it clearer that I wasn't using the AUTOASTROM
part, just the "classical" ASTROM bit. I've never had any joy getting
AUTOASTROM to work with these small (5'x5') Faulkes fields even when
I've given it the "correct" starting point.
