We have a big week of events at the Grant Museum next week with something
happening for everyone. There are family events for half-term, an early
Halloween evening for adults as well as the Festival of Geology. We hope
you can join us...
Witches and Lizards:
Halloween at the Grant
Thursday 30th October: 5.30-8pm
Where better to spend Halloween than in a
room of scary skeletons and skulls?
Come and join us, if you dare, for this special spooky night exploring
the role of animals in
scare-stories, rituals and superstitions from across the world.
From werewolves and vampires to eyes of newt and animal bogeymen, take
part in this chilling evening
drinks reception with unusual exhibit labels for this ghoulish occasion.
No booking necessary. This event is suitable for adults.
£3 payable on the door, including a glass of wine.

Moose and Millipedes: Forest Fauna
Free family activities for
half-term at the Grant Museum
27th to 31st October: Drop in between 1pm and 5pm
From jungle to
underwater kelp forests, and cool rainforests to
Arctic woodlands, come and discover
the amazing creatures that live among the roots, branches and leaves with
our exciting specimen-based activities.
What dwells in 70m tall seaweed or dangles 100m in the air? Which animals
rummage through
rotting leaves or have feet that never touch the ground?
Discover tigers, tortoises and toucans in our fun hands-on games for
half-term.
Admission is free and there is no need to book.
Festival of
Geology
Wilkins Building, University

Saturday 1st November: 10.30am to 4.30pm
A special day investigating Geology and
exploring the Earth with activities for everyone,
celebrating the Geologists’ Association’s 150th Anniversary. Come and
join us to find out more about Geology;
handle fantastic fossils, marvellous minerals and remarkable rocks.
Try your hand at gem panning, identifying minerals and casting fossils.
There will be talks on the
Big Bang, climate change, dinosaurs and global geological hazards from
the world’s leading experts,
as well as photographic competitions and stalls selling geological
equipment, books and specimens.
Field trips will be taking place on Sunday 2nd, including UCL's Mullard
Space Science
Laboratory (these must be booked via their website).
