Here at Ulster we teach all comers on the MSc Computing and Creative Technologies. The best students we have seen come through have come from the psychology undergraduate programmes.

It is interesting in that those we teach have come traditionally from 1/ computing science background or 2/ graphic/product design background...and even within these two disciplines we find the mindsets to be opposite with right brain v left brain problem solving.

The psychologists however tend to 'swing' merely finding the most suitable way forward.

Subject: Designers teaching non-designers

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask the members of this list, if anyone knows of designers teaching people
in other disciplines (or non-designers) how to use design skills and methods to inform
their own work?

I know of economists, lawyers, psychologists, educationalists, etc enrolling in Masters or
PhDs in Design. Also I know of designers teaching in HCI programs part of Computer
Science departments. But, what I would like to know is if there are designers teaching
professionals of more traditional disciplines. For instance, designers (with design-
degrees) teaching design topics in a Department of Psychology or Education, or Law
School.

Have we made this leap yet?

Cheers, Gloria
