We have never taken consent for blood testing, and the thought of starting up further paperwork is mind boggling. Even for HIV, Hep C etc, we are in line with the GUM clinic protocols in that no written consent is required. As long as the outcomes are fully explained, and the confidentiality aspect is covered in the consultation, do not worry about it. Can you assume consent for blood testing when someone presents themselves for a medical or this process neeeds to be formalised in a way of a signing a consent form or documentation. Does anyone have a proforma or sample consent form that I can use? 2. On the subject of clinical governance in OH and how it works in practice, I have found very little in terms of how it works in practice, could this essentially be the interpretation of what clinical governance is and is not?
