A postdoctoral position is available starting immediately at the Group of
Spectroscopy of the Departamento de Quimica Fisica in the Universidad del
Pais Vasco (The University of the Basque Country) in Bilbao (Spain).
The position is initially for two years with the possibility of extension for two
additional years.
The salary offered is in the range, 2,000-2,200 Euros/month.
The main research project the candidate will be involved in is focused on the
study of ultrafast electronic and vibrational energy relaxation in isolated
molecules, molecular cluster and molecules in solution. The experiments are
carried out in a time of flight mass spectrometer, where the dynamics of
selectively excited molecules is followed by ionization/fragmentation with
femtosecond laser pulses. An important task along the project will be the
construction of a new spectrometer with improved capabilities of ion/electron
velocity map imaging. The research will also involve studies of ultrafast
relaxation in solution by time resolved Raman spectroscopy.
The applicant will also collaborate in different research lines in the area of
physics of plasmas and nanoscale magnetic materials that involve the use of
ultrashort ultraintense laser pulses.
The candidates should have a PhD (or be close to complete it) in experimental
physics or physical chemistry, preferentially in molecular beams and laser
spectroscopy related topics. Previous experience in the use of ultrashort light
sources is required.
Applications containing a detailed CV should be sent to (via regular mail or e-
mail) either of the following addresses. Feel free to contact for any question.
