The City and the Book V International Conference

'The Eighty Americans in Florence's Swiss-Owned so-called 'English' Cemetery

Celebrating the 180th anniversary of the Swiss-owned 'English' Cemetery this
conference will study the nineteenth-century Americans, sculptors,
collectors, Abolitionists, writers, etc., who lived and were buried in
Florence. It is open to the public. It will take place between 9:00 a.m to
7:00 p.m. Its proceedings will be in English and be published immediately on
the Web. The Abstracts can be found at http://www.florin.ms/CBV.html

The preceding evening, 10 October at 6:00 p.m., in the Sala Brunelleschi
there will be a presentation on the history and art of the 'English'
Cemetery hosted by the Swiss Evangelical Reformed Church which owns the
Cemetery. This event will be held in Italian.
