Hi All

The Museum has just taken delivery of a large polished orbicular granite monolith from Western Australia. This is due to go on public display when the Museum reopens in 2011 after a major refurbishment. However as it is a major acquisition and our publicity department is trying to maintain a high profile while part of the museum is closed they want a sound bite/ brief piece of information about the object. The specimen is 1600mm high x 1100mm wide and varies from 450mm deep at its base thinning to approx 200mm at its highest point. I would imagine it is the largest specimen currently in the UK and before I state this I wonder if anybody knows of any larger specimen?

Many thanks

Simon
