CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT & TRAVEL PLANNING: Working In
Partnership With Your Local Authority - A case study
Venue: Stockport College
Date: 7th November 2008
An invaluable opportunity for anyone involved with capital
development to learn about the legislation and the challenges facing a
real-life project
Planning legislation now
requires a Travel Plan to be prepared and submitted as part of the requirements
for all major building projects. With many institutions now embarking on key
capital developments, and more and more emphasis being placed on
sustainability, its vital that everyone involved in a major project understands
the impacts of the planning legislation.
This workshop will be
based around the experiences of Stockport College as it seeks to expand into
and redevelop a constrained site adjacent to its Town Centre Campus , with a
project costed at almost £100 million.
The workshop will examine
the views of the College, local authority, English Heritage, and the local
community to provide invaluable insight into the complex range of issues and challenges
needed to be addressed before the scheme could proceed, including the crucial
role of the Travel Plan in satisfying local authority aspirations and concerns.
