You will have access to that information and whilst I am not for one
minute saying you are not an upstanding member of the community - on the
sinister side of things you could be part of a paedophile ring and share
that information with them.
On the other hand, I woud have thought as we do here that you just sign
up to a confidentiality agreement although I do believe as some of our
IT guys go into schools (schools are part of the Council in Scotland)
that they have to have CRB checks done.

Subject: CRB checking
I work in the IT of my authority. Part of my work involves rolling out
SharePoint as a document repository, for which I have elevated
permissions allowing me to access to large amounts of documents and
spreadsheets. Much of this could be about children or vulnerable adults.
Up until the present I have not been CRB checked for my work in IT.
Recently we have have been asked about our CRB status with regard to
getting everybody in IT who is not currently CRB checked up to that
standard.
I seem to remember that to need CRB checking a person has to be in some
sort of actual contact with children and vulnerable adults, not just
have access to information about them. As I rarely leave county hall I
have no contact with these groups.
My question is, do I need CRB checking to have access to this
information for the purposes of IT work and if not would my employer be
making me go down the route of enforced subject access by making me have
a CRB check?
This such a touchy area, is he hiding something? that I feel I should
say that I did have a CRB check 4 years ago when I worked in an area of
the council where I came in to contact with clients, I have no problems
with CRB checks, just a problem when people are forced to take them when
it is not necessary. We shouldn't be collecting this data just because
we can.
