ICT standards in the health sector: current situation and prospects (30 October 2008)This new study provides a structured overview of eHealth standards development and uptake in a European context, paying special attention to standards for electronic health records. The study, commissioned by the European Commission's DG Enterprise and Industry, explores the current status of ICT health standardisation processes and their future potential. It also discusses the economic implications of a lack of common standards in the health sector and the ensuing policy implications.

An affordable and personalised health care system for independent ageing
26 November 2008 Lyon, FranceNetworking session organized by ENEA in collaboration with the European Commission, DG INFSO, in the context of the ICT Forum 2008 in Lyon, France. This session, held on 26/11/08 (14:00 - 15:30 tbc), will gather experts of the healthcare and enterprise interoperability sector. If you are interested to be part of the panel discussion of experts and get in contact with several EU ICT projects and pilot cases in both ehealth and enterprise collaboration / interoperability sector, send an expression of interest by email. Registration at the networking session is free of charge, but participation at the ICT Forum follows the normal registration rules under payment of the conference subscription fees.

NEWS ARTICLE
ARTEMIS and ENIAC give go-ahead to R&D projects worth EUR 400 million (30 October 2008)The ARTEMIS and ENIAC Joint Undertakings have allocated EUR 185 million of public funding to 20 industrial R&D projects. This amount will be matched by more than EUR 200 million of own resources by industry and research actors, thus producing an R&D volume of around EUR 400 million. The two landmark decisions were made on 23 and 28 October respectively.
