With apologies for cross posting Call to Institutions: Ethnicity and Degree Attainment Following the publication of the Ethnicity Gender and Degree Attainment report in January 2008, the Academy and Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) are initiating further work to support the sector in taking forward its recommendations. Initially we are inviting the sector to respond to a call to institutions <http://www.ecu.ac.uk/about/projects/2008/assets/degree_attainment_call_ out.pdf> to identify initiatives and interventions (concluded, current or planned) to reduce the gap in the degree attainment of black and minority ethnic (BME) students. This work will build upon that undertaken by the research team in 2007. We would be very grateful if you could circulate this information to colleagues in your institution with an interest in degree attainment differentials and policy and/or practice to address issues relating to under-achievement by BME students. This might include those with responsibility for student success at departmental/faculty/student support level or at policy level, for example those with responsibility for retention, widening participation, student support, equality and diversity and/or teaching and learning.
