Dear Fulden Not restricted to industrial design, Herbert Simon's Sciences of the Artificial considers one's personal style as an acceptable way to proceed once the designer has abandoned the futile attempt to achieve an optimal design. There, when one is satisficing, one may move forward in a variety of possible and incommensurable ways, each not better or worse than another. I suspect James March's A Premier on Decision Making takes this forward considers the ways the designer can constitute his identity accordingly. So styles are not just styles of things, but styles of ontological self construction Jude -----Original Message----- From: PhD-Design - This list is for discussion of PhD studies and related research in Design [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Fulden Topaloglu Sent: Thursday, September 04, 2008 12:56 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: References for Style in Industrial Design Dear list members, I am working on a thesis about the perception of the concept of style in industrial design. I would be really glad if you could guide me about references dealing specifically with style in industrial design. Thank you all. Fulden Topaloglu M.Sc.
