About a week ago I circulated a reminder (see below) about nominations
for the Coblentz Award. Unfortunately the Coblentz web site to which I
referred had not been updated and
this caused some problems in submitting nominations. The web site has
now been updated and the correct destination for nominations is:
Andre Sommer ([log in to unmask])
Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry
701 E. High Street
Oxford, OH 45056
Due to the confusion with the web site, the deadline for submission has
been extended until October 20. Note also that there is no limit to the
number of recommendation letters.

The Coblentz Award is presented annually to an outstanding young
molecular spectroscopist. Details of the Award and previous recipients
can be found on the Coblentz
Society web site. The candidate must be
under the age of 36 on January 1 of the year of the award. The
nomination deadline for the 2009 Award is October 1, 2008. Files of
candidates will be kept active until the date of age eligibility is
exceeded. Annual updates of files of nominated candidates are
encouraged. Nominations, which should include a detailed description of
the nominee's accomplishments, a curriculum vitae and as many
supporting letters as possible, must be submitted to the award
chairman.
