Publications Officer London - Millbank Key accountabilities and tasks * Seeing publications through the production process from concept to print. Drawing up schedules and liaising with designers and printers * Providing advice on writing style to ensure a consistent message across the SSAT, and providing help with editing where necessary * Providing advice on design style according to audience and need for the item * Working with the publications manager and colleagues working on publications to ensure cost effective design and print across the SSAT batching items for print and design if possible * Working with the publications manager to ensure the team and senior managers are aware of forthcoming publications * Ensuring new publications are circulated to key people, including SMT and the Board, when printed * Working with colleagues across the organisation on newsletters, including working on copy, editorial and overseeing production * Maintaining an overview of SSAT images for directorate use, and providing advice on places to source alternative images as required. Encouraging use of a central bank of images and ensuring photos are up-to-date and relevant. Checking image copyright * Administer aspects of the financial systems, working closely with the publications manager on elements of online invoice payment Team and project support Provide support on other publications projects as required. Be an advocate for coordinated publications activity across the SSAT and promote consistent use of the corporate identity and style guidelines. Any other duties in line with the responsibilities of the role. Person specification Understanding of the principles of design and print and the importance of house style. Excellent knowledge of print production, repro and proofing processes. Understanding of the principles of writing in plain English. Ability to write and edit copy. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing. Experience of using ICT, including previous use of, Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases. Experience and understanding of design software, including Quark, In-design, Photoshop, Acrobat Benefits The salary for the posts will range from £25,550 - £32,516.
