Booking Details and Final Call for Papers for Academics and Practitioners.

Following our successful conference last year on 'the end of zero-risk
regulation' we have decided this year to explore the theories, ideas and
concepts informing contemporary regulation policy as they affect one specific
regulated sector: health and social care.

The conference, to be held at Homerton College, University of Cambridge, will
provide an opportunity for regulation and health and social care practitioners,
stakeholders and academics to examine the practical implications and
theoretical bases of current regulatory policies. Issues of interest include:

(i) the rise of the integrated regulator
(ii) moving from rule- to principle-based regulation
(iii) the new co-regulatory arrangements arising from devolved decision-making
(iv) promoting quality and innovation through health and social care regulation
(v) regulatory responses to innovation and risk in health and social care
(vi) consumer engagement in the regulation of risks in health and social care
(vii) the impact of the above on the regulation of health and social care
professions.

Final call for papers

We invite academics and practitioners with interests in regulation to submit
theoretical or empirical papers (focused on the UK or overseas) that address
or inform the above issues. We would especially welcome papers that engage
with the concerns and interests of our keynote speakers. Please email your
abstract of up to 500 words by 06 October 2008 to the conference secretary
at [log in to unmask]
