Compass Informatics, a leading
geomatics consultancy in Ireland, seeks a systems developer with skills in Java
and OGC web services.
The Post:
You will work
with a number of other project partners to develop an integrated solution for
sharing of data and metadata across a range of marine data users. The
project is a strategic project in the development of data management approaches
for a leading marine agency with active links to international marine data
activities. You will join the project team at an early stage of the
project and therefore have the opportunity to contribute to the solution
design.
Key project
elements will include:
·
Data
map viewers development using Open Source (GeoNetwork/GeoServer in particular) or
other products, with emphasis on OGC Web Services implementation and
integration of distributed data holdings.
·
Metadata
publication via OGC CSW Web Services.
·
Metadata
catalogue system development to OGC and ISO standards including integration
with databases to automate metadata generation and maintenance.
Ideal skills profile:
·
Strong
Java developer skills for Web interface development and backend integration
works with SQL Server databases.
·
Knowledge
of OGC Web Services (WFS, WFS-G, WMS, WCS, CSW) and relevant ISO standards
(19115, 19139).
·
Exposure
to products including GeoNetwork, GeoServer or similar (Red Spider, Deegree
etc.).
·
SQL /
SQL Server skills, including knowledge of SQL Server 2008 spatial data support.
·
Solutions
design and specification.
·
Project
control and liaison.
For the purposes
of related projects and potentially as part of the current project, skills in
OPeNDAP, Thredds, NetCDF data format, and related approaches would be
advantageous.
Conditions:
·
Initially a one year post, with a view towards on-going post.
·
Based in Dublin with some work potentially undertaken in Galway,
Ireland.
·
Salary is currently negotiable and dependent on skills and
experience. Pension and other benefits also available. Please note
