Beginning with the aftermath of the Great Exhibition, the history of displaying art objects to the public is considered until the present day. Drawing on a range of sources, from parliamentary reports to newspaper articles, and the expertise of guest speakers, this module engages with the controversies and the results of the emergence of London as a ‘Museum Metropolis’.
