Please read attached report from the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture.

"The Special Rapporteur notes that the acceptance of involuntary treatment and involuntary confinement runs counter to the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities."

These practices must change!!!!!

Regards,

Frank

Subject: [IDA_CRPD_Forum] Report of UN SR M. Nowak on Torture and Persons with Disabilities

Dear all,

The UN Special Rapporteur on Torture has recognized that forced
psychiatric interventions can be torture... that governments must
respect free and informed consent, equal legal capacity and liberty.
Other disability issues including violence in the home, and abortion
and sterilization. This report has just been made public and will be
posted on the OHCHR website. See pages 8 - 17 of the enclosed, and
please distribute to your networks.

Best wishes,
