English Heritage commissioned Miranda Kaufman to carry out initial scoping research on connections between the families who built properties in our care and the slave trade or abolition movement last year.  The initial results are published in Conservation Bulletin no 58 pages 10-11  which can be downloaded free at http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.11241 .  Further in-depth research is now being planned.
