BASA members may like to see the full list (attached) of historic sites
and monuments associated with the history of the slave trade and
abolition which have recently been Listed or had their Listed status
upgraded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport following
recommendations from English Heritage. We are grateful to all the
researchers whose work has made this possible.

Previous Listings around this history can be seen on the EH website at
www.english-heritage.org.uk/abolition.

You can also book for the new English Heritage walk "Equiano's London"
based on research by the blue plaques team which takes place on 28th
October from this link.

English Heritage commissioned Miranda Kaufman to carry out initial
scoping research on connections between the families who built
properties in our care and the slave trade or abolition movement last
year. The initial results are published in Conservation Bulletin no 58
pages 10-11 which can be downloaded free at
http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.11241 . Further
in-depth research is now being planned.
