STATISTICIAN/EPIDEMIOLOGIST for PRIMENT Clinical Trials Unit Salary: £23,391-£47,143 pa inclusive of London Weighting We are seeking to appoint a Statistician/Epidemiologist to work with the Medical Research Council General Practice Research Framework (MRC GPRF) and the Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Unit (MCPCRU), part of the Department of Mental Health Sciences, University College London (UCL). The applicant will work on a programme of research on mental health, cancer and terminal illness. The post-holder will work on the design and analysis of trials, large databases and specific research on palliative care and cancer including aspects relating to continuity of cancer care, psychological aspects of terminal illnesses and the clinical and cost effectiveness of treatments for the end of life disorders. Candidates should have good familiarity with one or more statistical packages preferably Stata, possess initiative, and be able to work effectively in a team. We are looking to appoint a candidate with (or about to obtain) either an MSC or PHD in Medical Statistics or Epidemiology. Previous practical experience in medical statistics or a similar field, would be an advantage. He/she should have a strong interest in working in close collaboration with clinicians and other scientists and good communication skills are therefore essential. Candidates should be willing to travel, as this post is based both at the MRC GPRF (North Gower St) and the MCPCRU at the Department of Mental Health Sciences, UCL (Royal Free Campus). The appointment, which will be for 1 year in the first instance, is MRC Band 3- 5 depending on qualifications and previous experience, with a salary in the range of £23,391-£47,143 pa inclusive of London Weighting, and may be negotiable for exceptional candidates.
