The Information Systems and Innovation Group has two PhD studentships each worth £14,940 per annum available to students joining LSE in October 2008.

EnCoRe: Ensuring Consent and Revocation

A three-year studentship is available to support a doctoral student at LSE to work as part of the EnCoRe project team www.encore-project.info. EnCoRe is a collaborative IT research project being undertaken by UK industry and academia.

The project aims to enable business to adopt scalable, cost effective and robust consent and revocation methods for controlling the use, storing, locating and sharing of personal data. The recipient of the scholarship will work as part of the EnCoRe project team and will focus particularly on the business aspects of consent and revocation including current practice and future developments.

LDSE: A Learning Design Support Environment for Lecturers

This project will work with Higher Education agencies and a group of practising lecturers to research and trial the online tools needed for effective technology-enhanced learning (TEL). The research will involve qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis of LDSE users and non-users through attendance at various engagement events as well as follow up interviews, focus groups and surveys.

The PhD student associated with this project will provide critical reflection on the LDSE project by studying the engagement practices of the project and comparing it with other forms of engagement.
