Apologies if you get this twice.

First, the bad news. The “Going Out” pages of Focus are being cut down to a single page, meaning I’ll have a lot less room for your science- and technology-related events. If you neglect to send me all the details I need*, you’ll probably go straight into the virtual bin. Even if you send me everything promptly and you’re event is brilliant, you may still be unlucky. Sorry.

But if you’re outside London, there’s good news. I’m going to be trying very hard to keep a geographical spread across the whole of the UK. So do keep sending me your information – just don’t hate me if it doesn’t get in every time.

I’m now looking at the October issue – on sale September 25th. So anything you have happening from September 26th to the end of October, please let me have information by next week – Wednesday 20th would be ideal.

Thanks in advance

Timandra

*what I need is:

  • Event or exhibition title
  • Date/s and time/s
  • Full venue details including postcode
  • Price/s and whether people have to book
  • A telephone number and web address that we can publish for people to contact you
  • As much detail as you have on what people will see/hear/learn/do/smell/taste/be forced to think about if they come:
    •  Full names of any speakers and where they’re from (e.g. “Professor Hymene Arbuthnot of the University of Carolina Department of Applied Skullduggery”).
    • Specific things they might get a look at.
    • An idea of why it’s topical/interesting/important/funny.
    • Anything I can use to generate truly awful puns.

But – no pictures please, just tell me if you have them so I can set the Picture Desk on you
