Don’t know if this is of any use but we have 3 operational fire fighters who have been issued with digital in ear hearing aids - Phonak Savia 22 half shell DSZ.
They are safety intrinsic (do not melt at high temperatures) and work well with ambient noise and radios.

PROBLEMS

You mention an implant. Does she also use a hearing aid? If so what type. I am currently waiting for mine. From a discussion about the different types with the specialist at our local hospital, I understand that some of the older types (analogue) which involved a complete plug in the ear could do this. They also were not selective in what they amplified. Apparently the new digital ones only have a very tiny insert that does not block the ear channel at all. It looks like a tiny fibre that projects into the ear channel. They can also be matched to the wearer's actual hearing defect, amplifying only those frequencies that need amplification. This avoids the 'booming' effect that was always a problem in a room where there were several noise sources.
No personal experience as yet, but it might be something worth investigating.
