thanks  for posting this...useful info and I hope employees/ GP's and other relevant bodies will note the paragraph at the bottom of the RTW pages:
"You do not need your GP's permission to go back to work - this is ultimately your decision."

  The Royal College of Surgeons of England today launched a series of patient information leaflets online.

  These give patients practical advice on recovery after surgery including returning to work. The first seven are for:

  CABG
  discectomy
  laparoscopic cholecystectomy
  laparoscopic nephrectomy
  thyroidectomy
  total knee replacement
  carpal tunnel release

  They were overseen by a steering group that included representatives from OH, GPs, anaesthetists and patients, with funding for the project from DWP.
