This is totally appalling, this is exactly the sort of thing we, as midwives throughout the world, must do something about. Recently we have been investigating the impact on PPH on women, their recovery and adaptation to motherhood, all of which are adversely affected in the UK. How much worse must this be when women are abused and tortured at a time when they need care?

I am going to the Domican Republic on holiday next week, and am now viewing this holiday somewhat differently to 10 minutes ago.

Subject: Stacy Sheer traditional midwife

Hi,
I found this group upon returning this past Sunday from a week long trip to work in a birthing hospital in the Dominican Republic. I am a traditional midwife and I live in the US. Upon my return, I sent this letter to a statewide midwifery organization asking what could be done. They directed me to you, attached is my letter. Please take the time time to read it and let me know your thoughts, thank you-much love-Stacy
