medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

 Dear listmembers,
In Jacques de Vitrys Vita beatae Mariae Oigniacensis I found the following
phrase. "(Quidam etiam diaboli satellites, virum nobilem & talibus injuriis
non assuetum,) per cappam vel caputium distrahebant." I think, it is an
idiom, but I have no idea, what it could mean. So I hope for you. Can you
help me ?
Many thanks in advance and best greetings !
Yours Vera
