I saw the Tory thing - amazing. A whole geographical area no longer serves the
interests of an abstract entity, the market, so
the real place has to go! No question of whether the market is serving us well,
we must reconfigure our world to suit it.
Wow- this appears to be for real-... Guardian is covering it too...I thought it was some August April fool...
Raises the question tho- have Northern cities failed- or have Tories failed in northern cities?

What would this make the urban geography of the UK look like ????? I'd
love to see the morning rush hour queues on the M4 eastbound elevated section
after this idea was implemented.
Abandon poverty-stricken north and make people move to the south, says Tory
think-tank
Deprived Northern cities are beyond revival and the millions who live there
should migrate to the prosperous South East, according to one of the Tories'
favourite think-tanks.

(PS maybe they could pull down Stoke on Trent whiist they're at it, and
definitely get rid of Telford, maybe Stafford too - then where I live would be
really nice and rural....
