Dear All,
sorry if this is old hat - does anyone have a cataloguing scheme/suggested structure for estate records collections that they feel complies with modern standards and reflects the complexity and heirarchy adequately? We are struggling with this and have a number of collections that either need cataloguing from scratch or reordering; however, we have differing views in the office on how best to do this and nothing definitive. The number of levels we use also need to be limited as it will be hard to upload into our cataloguing database - it can't cope with too many.
I think it best if people reply off list; however, I can do a summary for the list if thought to be useful.
