Gamble (1890-1968) in China between 1917-1932. They include a rich collection of images of Chinese people, urban and rural life during this time period. There are numerous images of Chinese women, temples, the Great Wall of China, and some events such as the funeral of Sun Yat Sen. It is possible to browse or search the collection. Other features of the site include a timeline of Chinese history, an interactive map showing the photographs by geographical location and a bibliography of further readings.
