Apologies if MERS breaks occassionally. I'm rewriting it in C but I'm doing it incrementally - so I rewrite a function and then provide a Fortran interface and go on to the next. There only seem to be a handful of large fortran routines but I haven't started them yet. First part is to write it in C. Next part is to make it thread safe.
