Postdoctoral Research Associate; Imaging Cognitive Neuroscience (two posts)

The Department of Experimental Psychology, in collaboration with the Medical Research Council’s Cognition and Brain Science Unit (MRC-CBU) is seeking two highly talented, innovative and enthusiastic researchers each with a PhD awarded within the last five years in Cognitive Neuroscience or related disciplines to work on fMRI or MEG projects related to the perception of one’s own body and multisensory-sensorimotor integration.

The research will be conducted at the MRC-CBU in Cambridge, an internationally leading centre for cognitive neuroscience and imaging neuroscience which has a laboratory equipped with one 3.0 T Trim Trio MRI scanner, a state of the art 305 channels MEG system and several EEG systems. In addition the lab has widespread expertise in neuroimaging methods and cognitive neuroscience. The MRC-CBU has strong collaborations with the Department of Experimental Psychology, which is one of the UK’s top academic psychology departments (5+ RAE rating). The posts will be affiliated with the Department of Experimental Psychology and based at MRC-CBU.

The ideal candidates should have expertise in the acquisition and analysis of fMRI data or EEG/MEG data and good programming skills. The candidates would also be expected to work within the general framework of the project, but will be encouraged to actively contribute with their own ideas and proposals. Applicants with no imaging experience, but with an strong track record in experimental psychology or computational neuroscience in the relevant areas are also encouraged to apply. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a consistently outstanding academic record, including publications.

Both positions are available from October 2008 and are fixed term for 32 months.   The salary for both positions is within the range £25,888 – £33,780
