Hi Candace,

I'd be really interested in hearing about literature in this area too.

There is Katz's account of denying her Jewish background in her fieldwork:

Katz, C. (1996). The Expeditions of Conjurers: Ethnography, Power, and
Pretense. Feminist Dilemmas in Fieldwork. D. L. Wolf. Oxford, Westview
Press: 170-184.

And I have also recently read Ramji's account of commonality and difference
whilst interviewing other Hindus:

Ramji, H. (2008). "Exploring commonality and difference in in-depth
interviewing: a case-study of researching British Asian women." The British
Journal of Sociology 59(1): 99-116.

I hope this helps!

Best wishes,

Sarah
