Dear Jim,

Your mention Taylor's Shaft, Moonta, might this be as a result from mgt. or
involvement of John Taylor & Sons?

Regards, Bernard

Hi Bernard,

I received this from Greg Drew, one of the authors of the book that I
mentioned.

Regards,

Jim PS Bernard asked that I post this response to the list as I contacted
him off list.

Hi Jim,

Taylors Shaft (Moonta Mine) and Taylors Shaft and Enginehouse (Wallaroo
Mine) were named after John Taylor who was in partnership with (Sir) Thomas Elder
and Robert Barr Smith as Elder, Stirling & Co., which financed the Wallaroo
and Moonta mines. He was a director in both the Moonta and Wallaroo Mining
Companies.
Hope to see you in Cornwall next year at the World Mining History Conference
in Redruth.

Cheers
Greg Drew
